... My Grandfather, Joseph Natividad Vasquez, was a trained and certified pit master and experienced chef who cooked all over the great state of Texas. He was my mentor and I watched him every day, asking questions and helping in any way I could. I took every moment of my time with him in the kitchen not only as a way to bond with my grandpa but as a learning experience from the best of his time. My passion grew more and more with every day that I spent in the kitchen until one day I found that I too had become a chef, just like my grandpa.I have worked in the kitchens of Iron Chef America Champions Beau Macmillan and Laurent Tourondel, helping defeat Iron Chef Bobby Flay in both instances. I also worked under Master Chef George Quilty of the legendary Orange Blossom Junction Restaurant, a Central Valley staple for excellence in dining and entertainment for over eight years.I began entering into culinary competitions in 2012, beating out thousands of restaurants and chefs all over the state of California. Some of my culinary triumphs include winning the 2012 Central Valley Iron Chef of the Valley, 2012 Foodie Fest Best Dish, 2012 Fresno Fig Fest People’s Choice Champion, 2012 Fresno Fig Fest VIP Judges Choice, 2013 Forks Corks and Kegs best dish. I am also the winner of the 2013 Visalia Home Show BBQ People’s Choice Champion and 2013 Visalia Home Show BBQ Judge’s Choice. I believe I win because I am confident in my culinary talent and my ability to cook amazing cuisine. I always say I cook the best for the best! I am also the radio personality on The Untamed Chef, my culinary radio show that can be heard on Grilliant Ideas Radio all over the world.
